Golf ball manufacturing giants have had a target on their backs for a while as new ball makers look to take some market share in this very competitive segment. Price is always top of mind when golfers look at which ball to use but that is balanced with performance. Lower quality ball typically means lower price and vice versa. The other aspect not to overlook is aesthetic or the image that the ball company portrays.

Enter VICE with their flashy looking boxes and polished logo. You can see why this company is making noise. It not just golf balls that makes them stand out, their caps resemble something you may see a college baseball team wearing. Bright colors and stylized logos grab attention on their beanies, microfiber towels and visors. And the golf bags? Gray material accented by lime green trim it is no wonder this brand is making waves. I WANT ONE.

Our VICE GOLF sample pack arrived, called VICE Selected that contains 2 of each style of ball that they offer. The first look at the packaging revealed a smooth, matte black box with the white VICE GOLF logo on the top, already impressed. Inside reveals 5 uniquely designed graphics for each brand. The PRO SOFT has a jungle cat in its natural habitat. The DRIVE uses a volcano design complete with lava flowing down the side of the mountain. #Memorable. The finish of all the balls was what you’d expect, but the PRO SOFT was the exception. It features a soft matte finish. As a “soft ball hitter” I was particularly interested in this ball and it comes in neon lime and neon red. The finish is obtained thanks to tiny silicate particles in the clear lacquer. VICE claims it is the the first matte finished cast urethane golf ball in the world. The neon colors offer maximum visibility in the air as well as on the ground. I don’t play colored balls much but I would play with these as they look fantastic. Each ball has a unique “keep in line” (KIL) putting line that assist in aligning the ball on the green. Something I normally end up adding to balls that don’t have it but the VICE KIL won’t wear off like my marks do.

So, what makes them different? It is simple: Vice Golf makes premium golf balls, sells them over the internet, and ships them directly to the consumer eliminating the middleman and saving you money. The balls are as good as anything we have played, just a lot less expensive. Buying in bulk, as in five dozen or more will save you the most so plan accordingly. They also customize balls with logos, your name and more for an additional charge. We ordered some with the Sioux Links logo on them to giveaway for promotional use. If you are looking for performance at a great price, embrace your vice and try VICE golf balls.

Three things to know about VICE.

  1. Their prices are cheap, the golf balls are not. Don’t pay more than you have to.
