We know the big brand names when shopping for balls, but smaller companies have been proving just as viable as golfers start looking for more affordable options. We had the opportunity to get a few rounds in with Sphera’s Pro Three and Pro Four on several different outings.

A three layer golf ball, the Pro Three’s have a soft urethane cover providing great spin at the green. The Pro Three uses a unique technology for the core that gives great distance on drives. They claim they work best for players with slower swing speeds, less than 95 miles per hour. It is a ball that Sphera has worked 25 years to master. The Pro Three was an outstanding ball. The covers are able to withstand several rounds without any degradation. We found great control with them as we approached the pin and they provided a soft feel in our longer iron shots.

The only other ball in their lineup is the Pro Four. As the name suggests, this is a four layer golf ball. The Pro Four has a soft inner core, mixed with what their website describes as a dual harder outer core. The design allows for a bigger transfer of energy on drives. This complements those with swings in excess of 95 miles per hour providing maximum yardage. This ball definitely delivers on that promise and our results showed it was similar to pro level balls made by the big manufacturers. We really enjoyed their extreme durability.

The large target line that is printed on the balls is a nice added bonus when lining up putts on the green.

Sphera is new to the market, having just started selling just these two balls in May of 2017. If you want to shoot with a ball that is near tour level, we’d recommend giving them a try on your next round. They are only available for sale online. We are seeing more and more suppliers just offering their products online. This works in the consumers favor as it keeps costs low.

Three things to know about Sphera.

  1. Pro level three piece and four piece balls.

  2. Cost less than name brand, department store priced balls.

  3. The large printed target line is a nice added feature.

Learn more about Sphera on their website and be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
